The youngest son of the freedom fighter Dr. Atul Chandra Mahapatra, Amitava Mahapatra (অমিতাভ মহাপাত্রin Bengali) was engaged in social activities from his student life. He became the General Secretary of Students Union of Tamralipta Mahavidyalaya (Tamluk College).
After obtaining M.A. degree in History from University of Calcutta, he joined Aghorekamini Prakashchandra Mahavidyalaya (Bengai A.K.P.C. College), Bengai, Subhasnagar, a place near Arambagh, in the district of Hooghly (West Bengal, India), as Lecturer in 1959.
The College was founded by Dr. Radhakrishna Pal and named after the parents of the then Chief Minister of West Bengal Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy (Aghore Kamini Devi & Prakash Chandra Roy).
Later he became the Vice Principal of the College, and finally became the Principal in 1970.
The first one and half decade of his tenure as Principal was covered by the stormy clouds of various socio political movements in the state, but as a good captain, he remained apolitical and never allowed his institution to get diverted from the ultimate target.
After serving 26 long years as the Principal, he retired in 1996, after turning a new college into a big institution with various educational activities (including Self Employment Training Courses).
He was engaged in different social activities, including providing free education to underprivileged children till the last day of his life.
Sujata (Mukherjee) Mahapatra
(1936-2011)
Unlike her contemporaries, Sujata (Mukherjee) Mahapatra (সুজাতা (মুখার্জি) মহাপাত্রin Bengali) started her conventional education just two years before passing the School Leaving Examination. The girl from a conservative family in South Calcutta (Kolkata), who entered into the school directly in Class IX, passed her first public examination in First Division.
After obtaining M.A. degree in Sanskrit from University of Calcutta, she joined Diamond Harbour Janakalyan Sangha Balika Vidyalaya, a Girls School in Mathur, a place near Diamond Harbour in undivided 24 Parganas District (West Bengal, India), as a Teacher in 1964-65.
After serving few years in the School, she joined Aghorekamini Prakashchandra Mahavidyalaya (Bengai A.K.P.C. College), Bengai, Subhasnagar, a place near Arambagh, in the district of Hooghly (West Bengal, India), as Lecturer in 1967.

After serving 29 long years, she retired from the College in 1996 as a Senior Lecturer (Selection Grade). She was engaged in various educational activities till the last day of her life.
